What does "turn" mean?
Turn is the side rotation and movement that happens during the first portion of the flight when the disc is at a relatively high speed. This turn is in the direction of the discs spin. For a right-handed-backhand throw (the normal disc golf throw) the turn is to the right. When a disc is thrown with more power than the speed number indicates, discs will overturn, often turning hard enough that the disc does not recover as it's speed drops near the end of the flight. Discs thrown with insufficient power for the listed speed will turn less than the flight number indicates, often not turning at all and going straight to fade. Turn can be used in combination with fade to gain greater distance with an "S" shaped flight path. As fade will happen to most discs, until the disc hits the ground, turn allows for more time in the air before fade takes over as the disc is already "turned" in the opposite direction of the fade.
